The Jordan River is a great place to go bird watching and nature viewing right in the heart of our valley. There are over 253 species of birds and animals that call the Jordan River home. Grab your binoculars, ID book or phone app, and notebook and get out there and start making observations. While there isn’t a bad spot on the river to start, we recommend to first timers to check out Tracy Aviary’s Nature Center at Pia Okwai (did you know that is an indigenous name for the River?). They regularly host birding events and can help you get started. Great Salt Lake Audubon Society hosts monthly field trips to the River. Want more than just birds? Try using the iNaturalist App to make your own observations, or join us in the spring for the City Nature Challenge!
